45th Annual Charity Walk Raises More than $2 Million

BY TREY GARMAN – The OUTRIGGER ‘ohana was well represented at the Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association’s 45th Annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk’s held across the Hawaiian Islands earlier this month.

Hundreds of OUTRIGGER hosts volunteered and walked in the festive events, which collectively raised more than $2 million for Hawai‘i non-profits.

Special shout-out to all the Charity Walk Committee members, most notably our chair – Danette Bolosan – for leading “The OUTRIGGER Way.” Oahu properties raised $16,703.42.

New in 2024 on Oahu, Kikau and ʻŌpua Kia took charge behind the mac and on the sound system at the Waikiki Beach Walk aid station, creating a fun and playful vibe that had everyone dancing to the music (see pics for proof). The walkers, and crew, also loved the free refreshing samples from El Gelato!

In Kaua’i, the KBR Housekeeping Hosts (pictured below) successfully raised $1300 to benefit nearly 50 nonprofit organizations located on Kaua’i.

“Their outstanding efforts are a testament to their unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in the community,” said Kelton Ancheta.

In Maui, OKB hosts rallied together and raised an amazing $7,000 in support of the Maui Visitor Industry Charity Walk, showcasing the spirit of giving and generosity that runs deep within the Maui community. In its 8th consecutive year, Maui County raised an impressive $1.2 million.

“To everyone who donated, fund-raised, and joined us at the Walk, know that your generosity will make a difference in support of our local non-profits in need!  Thank you for standing by our community and embodying the true spirit of aloha,” said Wendy Munetake.
