Pure Fiji Spa Training
BY PONIPATE BOTITU – The annual Pure Fiji training is not only a great platform for networking for Spa leaders and trainers but is also a great opportunity for them to update their knowledge and industry expertise that Pure Fiji has to offer. This year’s training was conducted by U.S.-based trainer Kimberlee Keng. Training was spread over two days of theory and practical training. First day was all about body treatments, Pure Fiji products and demonstration on massage techniques, product knowledge, upselling techniques, benefits, client home care and included a tour of the factory to show how products were made and packaged. Day two of the training was for skin care, introducing two new range of products – Black Pearl and Sea Grapes – which will be launched later in the year. They also showed new facial massage techniques using cowrie shell and warm stones, pressure point massage and scalp massage. The training successfully concluded with certificate presentations and thank you tokens from the Pure Fiji Team. The training was valuable and will enhance the spa service we offer our guests.
Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 1 Training
Two of our Supervisor’s attended the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 1 Training on Tuesday, February 20 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort Walu suite in Nadi. The occasion was attended by Food and Beverage Supervisor’s Jonacani Drobula and Asia Hassan. The one day course included tastings as well as a closed-book test. This certification offers a practical introduction to the wine industry. They gained the fundamental knowledge needed to appropriately identify wines and create food and wine pairings, as well as a wealth of knowledge exploring the major varieties and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste.
Leadership and Management Skills for Hospitality
A significant part of managing employees has to do with motivating them to perform the best work they can in order to help the organization reach its objectives. Ensuring that employees are motivated is a delicate balance between knowing when to intervene and knowing when to let them fly on their own.
This comes from thoughtful coaching that ensures they possess all the tools they need to perform as individuals but remaining present to support them in their tasks. The Leadership and Management Skills for Hospitality training was held on February 13-14, 2024 targeting Supervisors and Junior Managers. The motive of getting this group of attendees was to upgrade their knowledge on how to become better and effective leaders in their different fields in the resort. The group discussed communication skills, identified self-management skills, and learned about Emotional Intelligence.
The training helped our leaders gain the skills to increase their self-capabilities, sharpen their self-management skills and identify how self-management relates to Emotional Intelligence. It was an eye opener for most of the attendees and after the training they were able to identify their challenges as leaders and strive to become better leaders by utilising the knowledge gained during the two days of training.
