41st Annual Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival – Waikīkī Style

The Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival is a celebration of the Hawaiian style of guitar playing that commemorates the contributions made by guitar virtuoso Gabby “Pops” Pahinui. The event features the single-finger picking (slack key) talents of emerging and legendary artists.

This annual event celebrates the return of college football and supports the Nā Koa Football Club and the Hawaiʻi Bowl Foundation. Merchant Street transforms into an all-inclusive tailgate with entertainment and live auction.

Henry Kapono Celebrates The Songs of C&K

This once-in-a-lifetime event honors Henry Kapono’s legacy spanning over five decades of music, leadership and community support. From the era‐defining & iconic songs of C&K to his award‐winning & GRAMMY‐nominated solo career and the 30th anniversary of performing “Duke’s on Sunday.”

In honor of the Henry Kapono Foundation’s 5th Anniversary, the Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell concert will also serve as a fundraiser with $1 per ticket and a portion of the proceeds to be donated to HKF “To Support and Empower Hawaiߵi’s Music Industry to Thrive Through Programs, Grants, Education & Resources.”

World Manta Day Festival at OUTRIGGER Kona Resort & Spa (details tbc)

This year’s World Manta Day coastal cleanup at Keauhou Bay is on Saturday, September 9, kicking off the week. On Saturday, September 16, there will be a meet and greet with Keller Laros, president and founder of Manta Pacific Research Foundation, followed by an engaging lineup of “Manta Talks” from local and international expert divers and scientists. Manta-themed crafts for kids and adults and a showing of “Mission Manta,” which was produced in 2021 in front of the property, will conclude the day.

Hawaiʻi Kūpuna Hula Festival

This festival showcases hula dancers from Hawai‘i, the mainland and Japan. Highlights include a craft fair, two evenings of competition and a hoʻolaulea.

O Ke Kai Series (OKKS)

At each series, the Kanehunamoku Voyaging Society (KVS) staff and students are restoring canoe paddles once used on property at OUTRIGGER Reef Waikiki Beach Resort. At the final OKKS in November, 12 paddles will be presented to the students to be used for training at KVS.

2nd Annual Aloha Shirt Festival

Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival (HFWF)

The Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival is a three-weekend premier culinary destination event that takes place on three islands. Co-founded by Roy Yamaguchi and Alan Wong, the Festival shines a light on Hawai‘i’s rich agricultural diversity and homegrown culinary talent. HFWF has donated more than $3.2 million to community and organizations that support sustainability, culinary and agricultural education and cultural programs in Hawai‘i since 2011.

BURN Collective Founder Maria Chase will combine a HIIT-style workout with low impact isometric sequences followed by a well-earned refueling of nutritious bites and brunch favorites from five exceptional chefs, including our own Chef Dean! Tickets may be purchased, HERE.

Coaches vs Cancer

Coaches join forces with local organizations to help raise funds to benefit the Clarence T.C. Ching Hope Lodge. Hope Lodge provides access to a free home-away-from-home for neighbor island cancer patients and their caregivers while receiving treatment in Honolulu.

Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic

OUTRIGGER is again Hospitality Partner for the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic.

The field is set for this annual event now in its 15th year. Three days of college hoops will tip off Dec. 21 and conclude on Christmas Eve. The field includes Georgia Tech (Atlantic Coast), tournament host Hawai‘i (Big West), Nevada (Mountain West), Old Dominion (Sun Belt), Saint Mary’s (West Coast), Temple (American Athletic) TCU (Big 12) UMass (Atlantic 10).
