Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort Hosts to the Rescue

BY ASHNEEL CHAND — In October, two Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort guests (ages 12 and 15) swam beyond safety marks, despite a warning from our activities team. While they were wearing life jackets, our team was fully aware of the possible dangers beyond our reef. Fast-thinking Seru Taga, activities attendant, was on the watch tower and activated an alarm, as the current pushed our two young guests out to sea.

Activities attendants Jonacani Masi and Navitalai Kunacewa and diver Alfie Hicks coordinated a rescue operation with the help of a local fishing boat that took them to the nearby Korotogo Village shoreline. Thankfully, the guests were transported back to the resort safely and without injury.

Our three activities hosts received a Bravery Certificate during our November Vuvale Get Together for their heroic efforts.
